We all struggle with something

Since about the age of 10 I have struggled with my weight. When I was 19, I hit my all-time high of over 200 pounds. By BMI standards I was obese: A word no one wants to hear.

I wasn’t lazy, or stupid or unmotivated, I just felt like I wasn’t able to change. That I was simply ‘a fat girl’ and that’s who I was.

I don’t think that way anymore.

Who I am is what I have inside, what I do and what I hope to do.

Unfortunately, society does not always agree. It’s hard to look at other people or the images we see out there and not want to have ‘six pack abs’ or a ‘smokin’ hot body’. If we don’t think our body is perfect (and really, who does?) it’s tempting to think that if we were just this way or that way that we would be happy. “If I was only skinny, then I’d be happy”; “If I only had big boobs, then I’d be happy”; or whatever!

I I realized that my ultimate goal isn’t to be perfect. My ultimate goal is to have a life that kicks butt and to give back as much as I can. And that’s what good health and a healthy weight helps you do: it helps you live a great life. It’s not about being skinny: being skinny by no means makes you healthy.

Regardless of your size, you can improve your health. And that’s what you should focus on.

And that’s one of the main things I focused on during my change. After many failed attempts at weight loss, I finally decided that if I was going to do it for real, I was going to do it right and do it slowly. I changed a few things at a time and had to figure out what I could handle in my life at that moment. I struggled a lot along the way, but ultimately changed the way I think and changed my relationship with food, physical activity, my body and my self.

Since losing the weight, I have promised myself that I will keep taking care of my body so it will help me enjoy my life. Am I ever going to be a size 2? Sorry, not gonna happen. But I will be healthy. Do I struggle sometimes (always)? Of course. Do I have set-backs? I’m only human. But I will keep trying my best.

Trying our best is all any of us can do.

So, I welcome you to follow my video blogs and check my website for some of the insights and credible information I have picked up along the way. Take from them what you like and what you can realistically incorporate into your own life.

Not a single one of us is incapable of change: FACT.
Sometimes we just need a little extra push in the right direction.
